Sustainability

At Burren Balsamics, we’re a small company with big ambitions for doing better. While we can’t do everything, we’re committed to making meaningful choices wherever we can - step by step, product by product. Every sustainable choice we make is part of a bigger journey, and we’re proud to share it with you.

Recycling on Site

We recycle as much as possible at our production space, from glass to cardboard and everything in between. As a small team, we’re always learning and improving our processes to keep waste to an absolute minimum.

Cardboard Packaging

Wherever we can, we choose cardboard packaging. It’s recyclable, responsibly sourced, and kinder to the environment than many alternatives. It’s one of the simple but effective changes we’re proud to make.

Zero-Waste Preserves

Our zero-waste preserves are all about making the most of what we have. We use the produce used to infuse our balsamics which would otherwise go to waste, and turn them into delicious, high-quality preserves full of flavour! Some examples are:

  • Balsamic-soaked onions are added into our Onion Jam.
  • White Condiment-soaked blood oranges are used to make our Blood Orange Marmalade.
  • Balsamic-soaked diced Bramley Apples are stirred into our Spiced Apple Chutney.

Refill pouches

We offer refill pouches for selected products to help reduce the need for new containers. They use far less material than traditional bottles or jars, making them a practical, lower-impact option for our customers, and a small but important step for us.

From the land

We're committed to using locally, ethically sourced ingredients. The island of Ireland creates unbeatable produce at our fingertips. This also has the added benefit of cutting down our food miles, reducing our carbon footprint. From heritage Irish apples grown in the orchard down the road, to raspberries from Drogheda, to foraged wild garlic, we know you can’t beat the vibrant taste of our local produce.
